I have downloaded both new version of Lazy8Ledger and jEdit 4.3pre18 but none of them worked. Java is keeping its logo with info “run startups scripts”. It is impossible to choose LL from jEdit preference either.

Hello Tiit. Do you mean that you did the “jEdit installation” as well? That means did you download and install the “jedit4.3pre18install.dmg” file? You really need to uninstall any previous jEdit before you do an installation because otherwise you have no idea which jEdit you are running. I recommend installation with the “jedit4.3pre18install.dmg” you get from jEdit.org

I removed previous version of jEdit (jEdit 4.3pre12) with all its jars to Trash. I installed jEdit and during installation it gave info “Unable to connect to the database. Perhaps wrong password”. Actually it all started with same info with earlier version of LL and thats why I started to search updates/ solutions.
Hi Tiit. You need to delete everything in the /home/(username)/.jedit directory. Nobody has ever told me what is that directory on a Mac. If you look at the jEdit Activity log it will tell you what that directory is. The activity log is found under the menu “utilities-troubleshooting-activity log” and the row in the log you are looking for looks like “21:15:58 [main] [message] Log: user.home=C:\Users\Administrator.” Under this directory is a directory called “.jedit”. Delete the “.jedit” directory after you have shutdown jEdit.

It turned out that I had to remove jEdit directory from Application and User/Library/jEdit directory. I assume that the last one was corrupted. Now LL and jEdit work.
Next issue is how to restore my data? I have done backups as program offered but I could not import data or can I drag database to correct place?
What would be correct procedure?
What you are experiencing is a common problem. You are probably trying to import data from a newer version of lazy8ledger to an older version of lazy8ledger. It won’t work. You must import from the same version or from an older version to a newer version. The safest way is to complete the “jEdit installation” by downloading the file Lazy8Ledger.jar and replaceing your current lazy8ledger.jar. It is a manual fix until we get jEdit’s version of Lazy8Ledger updated. From the “jEdit Installation”:

and replace the Lazy8Ledger.jar that should be in your “/home/(username)/.jedit/jars” directory with the one you downloaded. In Windows this directory is often “c:\Users\(username)\.jedit\jars”. In macintosh it is “User/Library/jEdit/jars”. Restart jEdit.
Once again, go to the jEdit plugin-manager window and do an “update” to get the latest BufferTabs program. Just click on the update tab and there you should see the BufferTabs to be updated. Hit ok. Thats it

Thera are BufferTabs 1.1.1; Console 4.4.1; ErrorList 1.8; Info Viewer 1.5.9; LazyImporter 1.08; Mac OS X Support 1.1 and QuickNotepad 4.3 installed to jEdit too.
During import of data Plugins>>Lazy8Ledger Accounting>>Advanced>>Restore database>> backup file gives info “Invalid file name:Unexpected end of ZLIB input stream”. File I tryed to open was same file which program offered automatically to bacup (simple .txt file).
Sorry, but it sounds like the backup database file is corrupted. That is, it is cut-off at some point. I was hoping you were getting another error message that is very strange but that tells me that you are installing to a lesser version. I hope you have some other backup file. If you want me to try to open the backup file you can send it to me…
